I loved me some Powers Boothe. Given his talent, he just didn't seem to get the number of good roles he deserved.
He nailed these tho -
Jim Jones
Cy Tolliver (Deadwood)
VP and Prez Noah Daniels (24)
Rayna's father, Lamar, on Nashville.
68 years years old, died of natural causes in his sleep.

Follow Ups:
As a evil bad guy actor he could make his audience believe without a doubt what he might do. Gravitas. He could muster it very well in the right role.
The imdb indicates that he stayed busy doing character roles up until his passing.
A very good actor with plenty of screen presence, imho. I'll miss him.

in American Gods (and do it with class, panache and style beyond words), I'm reminded of the many great scenes
of Al Swearengen and Cy Tolliver going at it.
Grand stuff!

He was around a long time in film and television; showing up often enough to seem like a familiar connection to most anything I saw. Some here might remember him as Philip Marlowe in the 80's tv series.
I thought he had a very self assured screen presence, and he was excellent in everything I ever watched him in. He was a Walter Hill favorite for a while, in "Southern Comfort" and "Extreme Prejudice," and I loved his work.
