I think it was BH in central that brought up the movie title. I remembered having seen this movie on TV some few years after its debut (1970) in theaters.
It plays like a thriller with no real action. No heroes. No battles. But there are emergencies. Big ones. Any rush to save the day becomes flummoxed. There is a super-computer named Collossus that, once activated, becomes self-aware and starts making decisions for the betterment of all humanity on Earth.
I recall enjoying this film when I first saw it. I found a dvd copy over ebay and bought it so I could see it again. I suspect this is the only way. I could not find it in any of my cable service options.
Now that I've seen it again, I think it deserves to be in the library along side some other good and serious sci-fi movies.

Follow Ups:
yes my friend came over and we watched that on my projector.
it is a fantastic film.
I ripped it to my collection, due to copyright I can't share it with anyone, however it is available on Amazon.com for under $10 new.
...35mm film copy of this movie? How does one go about acquiring film copies of Hollywood produced movies, I wonder.
-Steve
No, and I think some movies are ok archived to DVD except the DVD I bought wasn't fit properly, meaning it was fit to regular screens. Not sure why they did that it was cut off.
Why not release in archival format ? They must be laughing their asses off.
The one I bought over ebay from seller "blowitoutahere" was Full Frame 1.33:1 DVD. $9.26 free ship.
I guess I read you wrong. I was thinking you had viewed an actual 35mm film movie, since you mentioned a projector. But, clearly you have the other and more recent kind of projector. But you know, film copies are likely out there for many movies. With the color fade.

I have a cheap 520p projector, I can't see too good so it is fine for me.
I listen to music most of the time, maybe watch 4 movies a year if that many.
Have a good week.
