But I thought it was racist to not use the correct ethnic person for Asian, American Indian and other racial roles these days.

So you're acting as an apologist for the offending reviewer? According to your post you "think" the director is racist for racially miscasting the roles? Did you even read the post of mine you responded to?
Anyway, in my original complaint I didn't mention the word "racist." You brought that up. I don't know if the reviewer is racist or not. My complaint is that he's manufacturing controversy over skin color and blowing it up into a conspiracy of social engineering and political correctness. Add that to his comments about women and the recent slur on the French and it's just ugliness. And that behaviour is constant.

I like to flatter myself that I have a passing knowledge of classical literature, and, amazingly enough, I've never found even ONE reference to Zeus or Achilles being Nubian! ;-)
OTOH, I do recall one of the Roman emperors (I forget which one now) traveling out to one of the conquered provinces to help dedicate a shrine to one of the local deities, since the Romans were fairly tolerant of other religions. They saw the parallels between their gods and other groups' gods, with the latter having equivalents in the Roman Pantheon. ("Oh yeah - this local god of yours is like our Jupiter.") Of course, this tolerance didn't always extend to Christianity! But I suppose there could have been a local Nubian god who was the equivalent of Zeus/Jupiter! ;-)
My objection isn't to the reviewers displeasure with casting, it's his paranoid fantasy about the reasons for the casting.
It just reads that way to you.
