Follow Ups:
There's some good movies listed in this thread- thank you!
One of my favorites not mentioned very much is "The Heiress" 1949. On the cusp of the 50's directed by the great William Wyler with Olivia de Havilland, Montgomery Clift and Ralph Richardson. "...-about a young naive woman who falls in love with a handsome young man, despite the objections of her emotionally abusive father who suspects the man of being a fortune hunter...-"
I watch it every few years to remind myself how great movies can be (used to be?)...
Have a great day.

To be sure, there is plenty of controversy surrounding that issue, but it is one tile in the overall rather large picture.
Interesting personality, and difficult life.

It is Gilda tonight.
The old ones can be simplistic, but even then they can offer the unique freshness.
The writers used to have more than few fucks in their vocabulary, and plenty of wit.
