I wish I never really watched this movie.
Good God it was awful. It was a perfect storm of the three 'P's - pretentious, phony, pointless.
I wonder how movies this bad get made.

I don't want to be a a contrarian but I think "You Were Never Really Here"
wasn't as awful as some of the posts portray ...I thought Joaquin Phoenix gave a simmering, intense performance and the action scenes were satisfying. I didn't care for the subject manner and I didn't care for the ending (the imaginary coffee shop suicide and Nina's apparent psychological recovery). But overall it was suspenseful and the non-linear storytelling had me captivated.
I'm not saying it was a fantastic work of art that stands out in Hollywood history- because NOTHING these days does. But I thought "You Were Never Really Here" was good, suspenseful and the performances were good to outstanding.
Has anyone seen "We Need to Talk About Kevin"? Lynne Ramsay directed that too. I liked it.
Have a great day

Laughing...
to make a movie, it would at least have good enough story to make it watchable. Lots of inferior flicks have fairly good actors, just not believable story line. Those movies are probably intended for the streaming market.
4 P's; not 3. Add pathetic. Yet there it was in steaming glory.
Fascinating, like watching train wrecks. Moths to flames. Spin cylinder, pull trigger. Etc, etc.
Tricks and techniques borrowed from other movies cramed in without any meaning or context.
"Guardians of the galaxy 2" had me completly flumoxed.

About an hour and a half too long.

Did you like it? I found "...Kevin..." absolutely creepy! It was like watching a nightmare.
I was feebly attempting to make a funny.
Now, after looking it up, I realize I saw the trailer a couple of times and as really anticipating see it. In my burg we see all the chain's coming attractions but many don't make it here.
Thank you for taking time to clarify. I always enjoy your posts.
Have a great day
