Seven people collide at the El Royale for a one-night stay. We start off slow but soon this film becomes a cast resume filled with character development of Olypian proportions compared to films of late. We see the background of each guest and how they came to rent a room. Then the action begins with nice zig zags thrown in for good measure. Everyone has a chance to do right or wrong depending.Bridges is there to recover stolen cash from ten years ago. Hamm is there to recovery something entirely else while Ervio just needs a cheap place to stay before singing in Reno the next day. Johnson appears to have kidnapped a young girl who needs deprogramming from a cult which goes sideways when the cult leader shows up (Hemsworth).
We are treated to a few delicious vocals by Ervino who may be chasing a support statue for her performance.
Slow to start, it becomes more compelling moment by moment to a crescendo of violence and redemption.
3.5 wonks for script, performances, and its compelling story telling
1 wank for making us wait too long before the good parts start

The pacing drove me nuts. Too slow. Lots of wasted film footage.

We'll see most anything with Bridges in it and he was stellar here.
Good cast, good story, well done all around.

It sounds like a film I will like. Bridges tends to pick films with strong character development. Was that realized here?
