What things in modern films annoy you most? My top three are movies with many flashbacks, which are often just filler; movies with lots of scenes shot at night or in darkness because it's easier to set up and darkness covers many things; and movies that are just too damned long.
Follow Ups:
You know, six kids sitting around doing video chat and they get killed one by one. Or, a couple is in a house that has an evil spirit that is captured on every baby monitor. Or, kids getting lost in the Paris Catacombs or a cave, or in the woods.
Total nobodies, shot in someone's home or on public property or wherever it may be free. No art direction necessary. No money required.
One of the worst films made, "The Blair Witch", showed young filmmakers they could get away with murder at the box office for a few grand. Just edit a killer trailer and you are off to the races or Redbox or Netflix or even the walk in.
Audience must be even dumber than the maker.

...and the Airing of Grievances?
Yes, both. I'm trying to clear the decks before the new year.
When I went to see "Vice" the other day, there was a trailer for a new Godzilla movie where all the action takes place at night. Of course, the old Japanese films used this technique often as well, but they didn't have gazillion-dollar budgets.
Saw that trailer before The Mule today (good film). My initial impression is that total blackness is the only way to salvage Godzilla.
