I know, Redford. What's left to say? I think this is a superb semi-documentary film about bank robber Forrest Tucker's "career". A man who truly loved his work.Minimal shooting, car chases, and all the other stereotypical footage of crime movies. That's because this is a semi-fictional description of the man's life, in which he happens to rob banks for fun and profit. The time period for this part of his life, at 75 years old, is the early 80's.
Redford, Sissy Spacek, Casey Affleck and others work this into a great story, well-told and interesting to watch. The script for this film is based on a story about Tucker that was written in New Yorker magazine. Recommended for the six-buck cable fee.

and we aren't Redford fans per se, but he was great.
Really well done in all regards, a pleasant (in a good, non
sentimental Hallmark style way) film that not only captures
the time period but has the FEEL (and look, vibe) that it was
actually made then.
Fantastic production values in that regard.

Well enjoyed for all the reasons you mention.

...and enjoyed it and do not regret spending some-$25 for it.. It's sort of slow, sort of quiet, and has only one (!) short car chase IIRC.. Spacek was WONDERFUL as a new friend.. Danny Glover certainly was underused.PS. It's 'The Old Man & the Gun'. :-)
