I almost didn't recognize John C. Reilly in the trailer. Looks interesting....
Follow Ups:
It was sentimental and nostalgic.
What is was not was coarse and vulgar.
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
I think I'll go see it now....
Not sure if I'm interested in the biopic, though.
had his phone number listed in the phone book in the early 60's and alot of his fans would call him up and tell him how much they loved him. That is how Dick Van Dyke got to know Laurel... saw his number and called it on a whim just to see... They became friends and I believe Van Dyke gave a eulogy at Laurel's funeral in 1965. Laurel wrote most if not all of their routines. He really was a genius. The film has gotten pretty good reviews...
My sister, as a high schooler, read in the newspaper that he was in the hospital in santa monica so went over to see him . Said he was real nice and she was glad she got to tell him in person that she was a fan.
Cool story... I'm glad she was able to let him know she was a fan... He WAS a comedic genius...
Read Anthony Lane's review of it in The New Yorker; not because it
is a particularly great review of the actual film, but because Lane is a
huge L&H fan and the love comes through in a graceful review.
