The Blockbuster decision had a lot more to do with public perceptions resulting from the publicity (e.g. rumors that wicked HD-DVD witch is dead), then actual impact on BB rental volumes. Your average HT nut probably understands this has had little impact on Blockbuster rental volume, but when J6P starts thinking about HD video and sees Blu-ray, and not HD-DVD at Blockbuster, he'll wonder why anyone would invest in HD-DVD ?

not the Blu-Ray fanboys. That's what the Blockbuster announcement has meant. I personally didn't think it would have legs, but it did. All for the better IMHO. End the format war now with the best technical format winning !

HD-DVD is going to have match this move (if accurate....)
Not that I'd be interested in a bottom-end Blu-ray player but J6P will....
Yea, I heard about that. We'll have to wait and see. BD has yet to meet any date they have announced. As for HD DVD, the A2 is already selling for $250. Cheaper ones will come along later this year.
