I'm sure you HD-DVD fans love this guy.....
" ....
What all this means to you, is that Blu-ray is rapidly becoming the clear choice. In our opinion, there's just no chance that HD-DVD is going to win this format war, and the HD-DVD camp's increasingly desperate moves now should make that obvious to all. With Blu-ray hardware prices dropping, and with Fox and MGM about to start adding their catalog titles to the BD exclusive title slate of Disney, Sony, Lionsgate and now Anchor Bay/Starz (not to mention all the great BD titles coming from Warner and Paramount), if you've been thinking about getting into high-def discs, now's a great time to jump in with Blu-ray. And if you'd rather wait a little longer for lower prices and greater hardware and software selection... there's still nothing wrong with existing DVD in the meantime. Regardless, we've said from the very beginning that this HD format war wasn't going to be good for anyone. But the writing seems to be on the wall at this point and, with a little luck, we'll see the last gasps of this skirmish play out by Christmas. At this rate, the CES convention in January 2008 is likely to be VERY interesting indeed."
Follow Ups:
... and do a search of the forum archives, you might notice posts in a similar vein from a guy going by the moniker ZS KEKL. He still trolls the Hi-Rez Highway trying to run down SACD while spinning his wheels about the superiority of DVD-A. In that race neither format seems to have had enough gas to make it to the checkered flag, but the troller (often referred to as Urkel due to his seemingly high-pitched rants) keeps trying to make his Edsel into a Corvette! The point being that no one can predict which format will end up being road-kill in this hotly contested race, or even whether either will have the longevity to reach the finish line. ;0)

Oscar isn't trolling for Blu-ray while knocking every HD-DVD offering. Of course there may be a few folks around here who do that, but my specific reference is to the obvious bias of folks like Bill Hunt, who Oscar pointed out in his post.
Jazz, m'lad, I'd hoped that your reading retention skills in this forum would've improved somewhat over your efforts in the Outside Asylum, but sadly this doesn't appear to be the case! ;0)

1) I wasn't on 'oscar's case'; I'm sure that he's aware of that or he would've responded here or emailed me with a query about it.
2) His original post sported the following subject line: "Bill Hunt (Digital Bits) on the warpath for Blu-ray." Clearly my response was acknowledging, and moreover in agreement with Oscar's contention carried over in his post, that there are always malcontents around who push their personal agendas without consideration of all the facts available to them.
3) See '2' above; if the foo sh*ts, wear it! ;0)

Amazon's top-seller list suggests that same-title sales of HD DVDs routinely outsell their B-D counterparts, and I don't think customer confusion can entirely account for the ongoing disparity.
Playstation 3 appears to be the #1 selling high definition disk player in either format, and in theory, it should have already turned the tide in favor of Blu-Ray, but so far, it's "halo effect" has been surprisingly weak.
The Blu-Ray camp has come out with a free 5 B-D movie deal of their own, and there are rumors of a $100 mid-July price cut for PS/3. Weak "halo effect" or no, if Sony can sell enough of the things, it could put B-D over the top. But at the moment, this doesn't appear to be the reality, and there are no guarantees that it will become so, or that Sony can continue to afford to bleed cash with every PS/3 sale--we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
Personally, I'm still sitting on the fence with regards to my own Playstation 3 purchase.
Another internet clown who takes himself way too seriously...

At some point you might entertain the possibility that people who support blu-ray and predict that it succeeds where HD-DVD can't might actually know a thing or two. Wasn't this guy just as big on HD-DVD just a couple months ago?

Until recently, when I read some of his ramblings. He's certainly entitled to his opinion, but as far as I can tell, he's just another blogger spouting the virtues of BD. Whoopee.
JackEDIT: There are HD DVD bloggers that I find just as useless.
