You meant 50- and 60-inch display respectively, didn't you? Pioneer doesn't make plasmas in the dimensions you cite.
According to their web site, they are due to make some big announcement in approximately three days and counting . . . or less depending on when you read this. We'll see if they live up to the hype.

nothing to sneeze at. All these models are supposed to break new ground in black level, power consumption and contrast ratio. All of which were traditionally problematic for plasmas. The advances are not trivial according to those who have seen the prototypes.

the real thing will live up to the hype.
Since I'm in the market for a 50" plasma in the next year, I'm more than curious . . . and I'm hoping for "full implementation" (please don't ask me what that means!) of HDMI 1.3 on these Pioneer plasmas. I doubt the non-Elite models will have it, but hopefully, the Elites will which, IIRC, won't be released until September.
Yes, the hype is worth it, based on reports from perfect vision. The improvements are not subtle and break ground in many plasma problem areas. Black level and contrast ratio alone will make these the ones to watch. Power consumption and half life should be icing on the cake. I don't know exactly what the elite models will offer that isn't in the more economic models, but unless you plan to use speakers hooked up to the TV, I wouldn't worry about which flavor of HDMI you have on your plasma. Just don't buy one until you've checked out these babies. Any notions of Panasonic being in the same league as Pioneer are about to be trounced for the foreseeable future.
I've had a Pioneer 50 inch plasma for more than 5 yrs now. Like all older models it can only do 720P but I've been really impressed with Pioneer.

Whatever the price I'm going to have to save up some serious money.
