I have been thinking of getting an external eSATA hard drive to connect to my SA Explorer 8300HD PVR set top cable box to expand the storage capacity of the box. Before I do this I wanted to check to see if anyone else is using an external eSATA hard drive with this box. I know that an external hard drive does not work in a Motorola environment so I wanted to make sure that if I do buy the hard drive it will not be money wasted. It would be nice to hear from someone on the Cablevision network as this is the system I am on in NJ but anyone that has an SA box is probably okay too. The manual says it will work. I'd like proof first.
Follow Ups:
Brighthouse use's the same HD box and I too would like some proof.
Beside what the manual says.
I guess no one is doing it, or no one cares. I am going to get this hooked up in the next week or so as soon as I can find a cable. I'll let you know if it works.
I once overfilled the drive and lost a few programs I needed to watch.
I didn't want to be wrong even though an installer said it "should" work.
