In the 5 disc give away.
I find this very very disturbing. Free title should never be counted as sales. Even some BD suporters are bothered by this. Its hard to explain this movie suddenly jumping up in the counts.

    generally, only discs that are passed over a store scanner count. I guess it could be real, but of all the titles, one that's been around for mny months and didn't breal 1000?

What this tells me is that the recent price cut has boosted PS/3 sales, and that people are taking advantage of Amazon's free movie + DVD remote offer, but beyond that, who can say.

  the USD 499 SONY PS3 is selling as fast as a USD 25 DVD hit movie
  that is a lot of cash being spent.

  suddenly this Blu Ray movie is selling enough to be number 3 due to a lower price. Only people with a Blu ray player will buy this movie.

    I think for the moment, PS/3 sales have genuinely increased, and in the USA, we may see another increase on Sunday when the big Sunday newspaper advertisments come out. But can the sales levels be sustained? I don't know. I think if you asked folks in this country what electronic devices they wanted to buy this week, the list would include:
    Flat panel TV of some sort
    iPod
    iPhone
    Nintendo DS
    Nintendo Wii
    Notebook computer
    But this (Saturday) morning at EB Games, I had no trouble getting a new PS/3 from stock, while Nintendo's Wii still sells out quickly.

      PS3 cost 499 including DVD player(worth minimum 50) and 6 movies( about USD 60) and your get the state of the art technology.
      That makes the Wii and 360 look expensive.
      
      Wii sell to gamers due to the waving remote, but families buy PS3.

        I don't know about your part of the world, but in the USA, Wii costs $250 and it's been a huge hit. In Japan, it was outselling PS/3 by something like 5:1. Now that Sony has released lower-priced PS/3 packages in both the USA and Japan, we'll see if things improve for PS/3.
        
        My own PS/3 console has a January 2007 manufacture date! That's kind of embarassing, but at least Sony is finally doing something about it.

        3rd-party sellers on Amazon can charge $1M for a Wii, but that doesn't mean they're going to get it ;-) But yes, Wii is still super-popular here, and you need to get to the store fairly early in order to get one.
