Maybe there *is* room for two competing high-def disk formats after all.

Interesting: Samsung had announced such a machine well before the Blu rays ever reached market. I believe Sony put a quick end to that as Samsung had just inked a deal to manufacture all of Sony's LCD sets. Must be an indication that Sony is easing up on their restrictions for Blue ray. Since Denon has also announced a dual machine, we can expect Marantz to follow suite shortly.

Can you point to that announcement? The announcement I've seen was for a BD only machine, with dual video and audio processing for PIP functions. There was no mention of HD DVD capability in what I've seen.

Marantz will debut a blu ray machine at the next Cedia. Given that they also have been producing universal machines, I would expect a universal machine is also in the works, too.
Stu
Hopefully, it'll play better than my Samsung BD 1200.
