My DVD player has an HDMI out, and I want to view it through a PC monitor I have that has DVI. I bought an HDMI to DVI adaptor, but it doesn't work. I can tell that the monitor is getting something, but he screen just stays black.
Anything I should try or settings I could change?
TIA.

Thanks everyone.
I don't think that trick works if the HDCP (copy protection) is activated.
The answer to your question is, Nope.
HDMI according to my tv manual communicates with EIA/CEA 861 compliant consumer electronic device. And is not intended for pesonal computers.
The problem is that his DVI monitor is not HDCP compliant (his HDCP enforcing HDMI source is waiting for an "electronic handshake" with his "I don't know how to shake hands" monitor).
