between the two however, if you are sports or fast action movie fanatics the 1080p may suit your taste, as the overall picture quality seems to be smoother with less pixilation and stair casing effects. Again, the overall video quality is entirely dependent on the dvdp/cable provider that you are using with it, as the saying goes WYSIWYG.
BTW, CRT is still king in terms of the overall video quality is just that it is old technology and where’s the fun in that I can attest to it as my 3 year-old Toshiba 57” HD CRT PRTV is setting idle at the bottom on our basement’s staircase.

Many displays only do 720 or 1080i. On those I wouldn't count on much of a difference between 1080i and 1080p.

in which it can only do 720p and 1080i that I am using for my usual HD cable viewing. However, I have seen some 60” plasma video display between 1080p and 1080i via HD cable or HD/BD in my local Best Buy store to which I have stated the difference that I have seen in my post above.
