Folks are going to retailers and finding lots more on sale than just selected titles! There wasn't even suppose to be anything for HD DVD and Circuit City it appears is also showing discounts with those when folks check out.
Follow Ups:
I tried ordering "Tekkonkinkreet" and "Paprika" on B-D, and the site is showing a whopping $38.96/ea, no discounts, and no in-store availability.
Sorry I didn't make that very clear.
So as not to miss out on things, thumb through posts on avsforum from time to time. What was happening with retailers was posted as early as Sunday midday.
Couldn't resist. Although they are not advertising, almost every blu-ray and HD DVD, with the exception of anything with MSRP > $30, was half off.
This night was painful to the wallet: Between BB and CC, I picked up 14 blu-rays and 2 HD DVDs, all but one were $15.00 or less. The exception was the one (1) Blu-ray I had planned to buy anyway (AC/DC).
With a local Blockbuster store now carrying 200+ BDs and having 2 for 1 on Monday through Wednesday coupled with Netflix basically having little to no wait on most titles at my hub, I can get most anything I want to view rather quickly.
I took advantage of the sale of course but I wasn't going crazy like lots of folks I was reading about on BD and HD DVD forums. Maybe they are retired and can watch movies all day or like to view the same things continually. The price is right but I still cannot see doing it. Besides, I need money for SACDs! :)
I picked up my first XRCDs and Turtle Records SACDs to try out just for grins. Gave Reference Recordings a rant on lack of hi-rez discs and bought a couple or RR CDs anyway.I haven't been to Blockbusters nor rented movies in years. I guess I should check the local one to see if it has any Blu-rays.
