I happened to be there when they arrived on the truck!! Initial reaction, amazingly fast to set up out of the box. It took less than 10 minutes to have it playing a HD disc. The set up is intuitive and the instructions are an example of how they should be offered. Video was amazing, I am simply stunned. It did well on analogue sound as well. I listen in a 2 channel system.
While at the store they set one up with a 19K plasma set for a check. THAT was amazing to see. I think Samsung hit one out of the park.....Now I can adjust my Netflix list and move the BD and HD films to the top.

Keep us posted as things progress. I believe it is also 1.1 compliant.

Looks like a Merry Christmas at Casa LWR.
Keep us posted. I'd love to know if this machine does PAL> NTSC and can be made regio 0.
NTSC/PAL TVs are available here

Thanks for the link - I'm aware of this company since they've been around awhile.
But I already have an HDTV, and when I replace it it isn't going to be with RP or a 4:3 display. It's less expensive, and more visually satisfying, to acquire a converting, region free player than it is to buy a compromised, PAL> NTSC> SECAM display.
Actually, I don't think I have any SECAM discs. Lotsa PAL though.
Finally, some of us have a fantasy of the a quality, reliable, one box, region free/converting BD/HD-DVD/DVD machine. How's that for pipe dreams? I don't even care to use it for 2 channel audio. Probably just dreaming...
Not to be a downer, but as a three month owner of both Blu-ray player and HD players, you're a long way from being able to rule that player a winner yet. I have a Samsung Blu-ray player and it has a been a frustrating player from a firmware point of view. Every time a new series of movies comes out, I have to wait on a firmware update before I can play them. So report back in 60 days or so - and probably 2-3 firmware updates later - and let us know how you feel about it.
hopefully they got this one right....
