Not sure it's excellent news for HDDVD.
On the one hand HDDVD wins a Sound and Vision Editors Choice Award and on the other hand more companies move to Blu Ray. What is the sum of excellent news.

An Editor's Choice award need not reflect the views of the public at large or the industry's view on which format is most likely to succeed. It just shows that the editor thought it was a very good machine. It may be but that says nothing about the format war and who's going to win.
Toshiba should be pleased to see that someone appreciates their engineering skills. I wouldn't read too much else into it because the award could well be more about the player than the format.

...the sheeple voted in Mr. "I'm The Decider" twice (or at least it was too close to call or prove otherwise), so there is no accounting for the publics ability to recognize excellence over hype.
