Woolworth's 820 stores dropping one of the formats
Follow Ups:
Walmart here now has all the high-def discs locked up where you can't browse through them. I guess they WERE getting popular. :) There's no standalone Blu-ray players though, but Venturer-badged HD-DVD players that are currently still priced at $200 with 2 free movies. Meanwhile, across town London Drugs now has the Toshiba A3 for $160 with 7 free movies.
I'm still going to hold out for the PC DVD/BD/HD-DVD combo drive.
But I couldn't see a player for EITHER format! So they sell both disc types, but you're on your own for the player. ?

Wal-Mart here in Lexington KY has Toshiba A3 players for $148
Must be selling like gangbusters.

They might have those, not sure TBH. I'd imagine they should be right there as the games are in the same area.
That said, even though I visit this site daily, I didn't remember/think about the PS3, so I wonder how many other consumers would also not think of it. I wasn't there looking for discs or players however, just killing time while the wife was looking at stuff.
Next time I go I'll see. And for the fun of it, I'll ask an employee if they sell a player for the discs (see if they even know the PS3 plays the Blu-Ray disc).

I bought my PS3 at Target almost a year ago when stock at retailers was very low. I asked the clerk when he expected to get PS3s in stock. He walked me all around looking for another employee who walked us back to where we started and pointed into a display where they currently had three stacked in a corner. Point being, you're lucky if you can find a clerk that knows where to find something, let alone what it does.
