Help! Verizon FIOS TV cannot solve my problem and Motorola won't. I have a Motorola QIP 6416-2 HD/DVR STB for main TV and also a 6200-2 for BR TV. I cannot get a PCM audio signal output from either the S/PDIF coaxial output or the Optical output. I have tried running both into my DAC with the Audio setting on the STB at both Stereo and Mono, and all I get is loud static, leading me to believe the audio signal being output is only 5.1
Does anyone know: (1) whether these STB's in fact output PCM stereo audio signals, and if so, (2) how do I get STB to do so? I never had this problem with my Direct TV STB and am now sorry I switched to Verizon FIOS.
Thank you.

Did you ever figure this out. I am having the same issue.

You'll need to go through the audio setup section in the STB's menu system, as that's where a PCM setting would be. If you can't find it, there probably isn't one. The signal out of the STB will most likely be Dolby Digital and the reason your DAC can't "translate" the signal is because it's in data form (not PCM). If you can run this signal to a surround receiver, it will decode to analog and, available with some models, output a PCM signal for you to run to your 2-channel DAC (if that's what you really want to do).
Thanks, Joe. I was considering this, buying a cheap 5.1 receiver with an analog output. It may be my only alternative.
