I have a Dual 1229 in excellent condition, except for one thing.
The lever on the left that switches the speeds, is stuck in the 33 position, and the platten is not spinning. Underneath it, the spindle on the motor is spinning, but the idler wheel (black rubber wheel) is not pressed against it.
If I put to two small legos (don't laugh ;) in the open space to the left of the idler wheel, causing it to be pressed against the spinning spindle, the platten will spin. But I can't get it to the correct speed.
I'd like not to have to go and buy a complete set of legos, and try
to fix this the right way.
Does anyone have suggestions on something I might try to fix this myself?

But I like to counter with a a few lines from
the poetic lyrics from that mellifluous song,
"Black Demin Trousers and Motorcycle Boots"
"On the muscle of his arm
was a red tatoo,
and a picture of his Mom,
saying, "Mother, I love you."
What this has to do with my Dual 1229, speed switch,
sticking, and looking for advice...I don't know ;)
It wasn't a ruse to throw you off the tracks of the main suggestion, to ping No Transistors.
And now I'll quote from the oft great Lonnie Slocum (of Lonnie Slocum and Dog Track Gravy Fame)
Don't trust your drummer
With your coke
(From the twisted mind of Dan Jenkins in Baja Oklahoma)
And Mr. Murphy (long before his Wildfire days) says:
There's a muscle on her arm
With a red and blue tatoo
That says
Fort Worth I love you
