;O)Seriously, if you want bargains in high resolution then I'd recommend going with HD-DVD or buying a dual format player and buying discounted HD films NOW.
If you are primarily interested in future releases then I'd recommend going with Blu-ray, even though the hardware and discs will probably cost you twice as much in the near term and the final specs apparently aren't as yet finalized. BTW, both formats produce stellar pictures that you can't tell apart in spite of the much hyped capacity issues (the 50+ gigabite capacity may make a difference in future offerings, but so far it's only noteworthy application has been to selectively provide extras in high definition that are only provided in std. definition from HD-DVD).
Note: A smart move if you go with HD would be to buy a back up player or two even if you purchase a dual format player since I doubt that repairs and warranty work from Toshiba will continue for long after HD's demise.
