We were on the way home from breakfast, and my son wanted to stop at Best Buy. There was a display of open box items out front, and I noticed a Sharp BD-HP20U BD player in the rack priced at $299. As I was looking at the player, a sales clerk told me I could get 20% off the marked price today.
It's sitting on the kitchen table while I read the manual. I'm debating whether or not I want to drive in the rain to Fry's for an HDMI cable-all they have are the ridiculously overpriced ones (Monster) at BB.
Any tips/suggestions, Jack G?

If this forum isn't up on Monoprice for HDMI cables, it's high time. (Haven't been here in a while so if this name is old news, my bad.)
I thought it came with an HDMI cable. I seem to have a few of them sitting in a drawer somewhere. If you just need a short cable, you probably don't need an expensive one. I'm a believer in decent cables, if for no other reason than the fact that the *connectors* are important. HDMI is a crappy connection system, and can in some cases come loose.
enjoy,
Jack
Rock solid. I bought two, bro n law just bought a couple, absolutely no complaints. Arrived in three days.Ooops, saw you just ordered from RAM, so, nevermind. Enjoy your new toy and report back.

... if you want to watch the player, today. I live in SF valley, and I think the heaviest of the rains is over (As of 1:45pm). You could try Radio Shack, too-you can call an RS and get a store employee to give you information, which is unlikely at Fry's, and that might save you a wasted drive. If you're more patient than that, GTF's internet store suggestion is a winner.

No matter...I just checked RatShack's prices for HDMI cables online, and the RAM cables are a much better deal. No instant gratification, though :(
Enjoy your new machine, padreken. I think it's worth getting cables now.
It stopped raining up here in the bay area, but it's still overcast.

Don't over pay.
I'll play around with component for now-the cable is on order.
