Looking for a dvd recorder with Component or HDMI input. All I have seen available have S-video at best as input. I want to go HDMI from my cable box into my DVD recorder then out to my TV. That way I can record in HD and watch TV in HD. Any suggestions? Thankyou.
Follow Ups:
Does coax cable support HD? To what resolution? 1080i or 1080p? Thanks.
Isn't HDMIs purpose exactly to prevent the copy of content from one digital device to another?
Standard Definition DVD will not support High Definition television.
So thats why they don't make them. I think they should at least make one with hdmi pass thru so I can watch HD on TV and record TV thru standard def cables. Any suggestions on how I can make that work? Thanks for the info!
Then I would have to switch cables to hook up my dvd recorder when I want to record tv.
Can't you run an HDMI direct to the TV, another set of standard/composite cables to the DVDR, and out from there to a second input on the TV?
Maybe. As long as the cable box can switch between the two outputs as needed. Thanks for the advice.
AFAIK the signal will be at all outputs simultaneously, but I may be wrong with an HD box. Worth a try!
If your right about the simultaneous output, that should work. I drew it out on paper and it seems to make connectivity (if thats a word?) sense. I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks for your help.
