Follow Ups:
No, not Field of Dreams - Bull Durham. It's certainly MY favorite BB movie. Sarandon is terrific in it and so is the supporting cast including a young Tim Robbins, who met Sarandon on the set and...well, you know the rest. Second for me would be Eight Men Out, cuz I love John Sayles, the cast, it was shot mostly in my hometown and I'm in it.
I also liked Costner in:
The Untouchables
Silverado
No Way Out
Dances With Wolves was a sincere effort, which personally I don't care for. But Costner's good in it, as far as it goes.
He's been in some stinkers too. If actors need a paycheck, it's just about inevitable that'll happen eventually in the Hollywood system. He doesn't seem to have very good judgement on post-apocalyptic sci-fi (Waterword and The Postman). But he's not that bad, even in these very bad movies.
I find Costners acting to be variable, however, he has done a few that I like, such as 'Bodyguard', and the fairly recent 'Mr. Brooks'.
...is an excellent baseball movie.

Uh, err, hmm...
Well, he musta been good in something. :)
.
Ah, I was being mean. He's not all bad, and there's a few of his I haven't seen. For instance; The Big Chill. :)
The story is based on his character yet he doesn't have a single line.
OK, now I am being mean. He played the coarps at the very beginning and is not really in the movie. It is a good movie with a great soundrack though.
FWIW I like Costner well enough.
