It's not a "wrong" setting; you've just opted for upscaling to twice the scan lines. If you don't like it, choose the full screen or other setting. You should also be able to adjust the formatting using your display device.

"Full screen" distorts (of course) and so does "Off". That leaves one with either the situation as described, or a correctly-proportioned picture set in the middle in reduced size.

Tonight I'll try the JVC.
