Guess what? It's a Denon DVD-3800BDCI under the covers :-)

I know, and I've no complaints with Denon when it comes to the technology behind the video which is the best I've seen (and why I have a Denon now), but the Denon house 'sound' is underwhelming and the build quality of their latest BluRay players is a backwards step from their DVD players.
Marantz can be expected to deliver a far better sound quality from the audiophiles point of view with better analogue output stages and better power supplies, which is also important for HT when I'll be using the 7.1 analogue outputs.
That's what I expect then from Marantz, but whether that's what will be delivered we'll have to wait and see. :0)

Concur. All that I'm hoping for is that Marantz improves the audio on the unit. It's also nice that Marantz is confirming that DD+ is internally decoded leaving only DTS-HD incapable of being internally decoded (although lossless DTS-HD MA is able to be internally decoded); although from what I can tell, very few discs have only DTS-HD so it's a non-issue in any case.
Shouldn't be long now as first units have shipped.
I am also interested in the Marantz and I am mostly interested in the audio support. I want to get something that internally decodes all of the new HD audio codecs because I do not have a receiver, nor do I want one. According to this -
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=980672
the Marantz streams and internally decodes all of the new audio codecs but the Denon does not.
Not sure what to believe. Will wait until it hits the street and see, or try the new Pioneer.
