that Sony wasted too much on R&D and are making a loss despite overpricing the PS3 for what it does.
Now that I've supplied an alternative, I must get back to my PS3 and another BD movie. Personally I think the PS3 is good value but others can always find ways of claiming it isn't if they so choose.

Follow Ups:
The breakdown on PS3 components--including the Cell chip, four USB ports, wifi, blue tooth, Blu-ray hard drive--comes to a few hundred dollars more than list price. It was about $850.
Bashing Sony is fine (except when it involves defending TOshiba or MS)...but the PS3 has among the lowest failure rates, best support and great quality.
Enjoy your BDs! I just watched In the Line of Fire and the definition is so good I almost fell out of my chair.

could be part of your problem
That obviously doesn't include you.Analysis upon the release of the PS3 showed it was selling for several hundred dollars less than what it would cost to put together a comparable DVD/blu-ray/cd player with a Blu-ray hard drive, wifi, four USB ports, bluetooth, HDMI, etc.
