480i

I bought a Panasonic 50PZ800U and was wondering if it receives a 480i input will it change it to 480p? If it does should I leave the 480p turned off on my DVD or turn it on?

Well, I found out the Panasonic PZ800U does no converting per say. It takes whatever is feed it and displays it. Duh, as you can tell I am new at this.

If the plasma has the better deinterlacer (480i > 480p), then feed it 480i. If the DVD player has the better deinterlacer (480i > 480p), then feed the plasma 480p from the DVD player.

It's all down to what produces the better image and the least amount of artifacts. A great test is the opening scene of Star Trek: Insurrection. If a deinterlacer is up to that task, it's worth using.
