Toshiba's still updating HD-DVD players!

I was kind of surprised to receive firmware 3.0 awhile back, and as of last evening, a disk containing 4.0 arrived! Looks like they are still polishing the system at this late date. No new features that I can see, just some apparent refinement and bug-fixes.

At least for now, I've decided to hang onto my HD DVDs and not repurchase the same titles in Blu-Ray.

Firmware 4.0 has been rock solid on my A3 and my Venturer SHD7000 (A3 clone). No freezing, no hesitation on playback.
Also, with Walmart Canada selling HD DVDs for $5.00 every now and again, I've added almost 50 titles in the last few months. So far they have had three waves of HD DVD clear-outs. Two from Warner Brothers and last week they had one from Paramount. I'm looking forward to the Universal clear-out!

I did the same thing. I also use the Toshiba for upscaling regular DVD discs which does a great job. I just bought the Pioneer new Blue Ray player retails for 800.00. I will use this just for blue ray.
