My set is capable of 720p. Can you adjust the video out of a BR player or is it going to put out 1080p w/ a BR disc? If my TV gets 1080p will it or can it downconvert it? Any help appreciated. Hitachi w/HDMI input and component of course....

...choice, and 720P is always on the menu. I'd let the player do it.

My old Pioneer 720p plasma automatically downscaled 1080p output from the PS3 and it looked spectacular, but having never used your Hitachi plasma or whatever BD player you're using, I couldn't say for sure. If you're running all your signals through an A/V processor, that's another opportunity to set the output for 720p. But I'd bet the plasma would automatically downscale the signal.

Thanks for that. That's what I figured. Rear pro LCD by the way.

Fixed pixel displays (LCD; Plasma) will display only their native resolution, regardless of what the source component can send to the display. So you are limited to a 720p resolution, even though you have a BD player.
