My wife decided to dust around the Panny and while she was at it ran the Pledge coated cloth over the screen. Now I have a "snake" smear across it.

And you won't be the last. I'm sure Panasonic, or any manufacturer for that matter, has had this situation come up on a regular basis. Most people do not know how to properly clean a display's screen, whether it be a plasma, LCD, CRT or other type of display. You're best bet is to contact Panasonic and S C Johnson (the makers of Pledge) and explain to them what has happened. They should be able to give you the best information on how to get the streaks from the glass (the chemicals in the Pledge have reacted with the coating on the plasma's glass).
The only way to clean any display screen is with a micro-fiber cloth (Sam's, about $5 for a pack of 6) and, if there are spots or other problem areas, distilled -- not tap -- water (Wal-Mart, less than $1 a gallon). For dusting, do not use a feather duster: get one of the scratchless synthetic dusters (Wal-Mart, about $3).
