I'm guessing this is your audio and HT system. For the cost of appropriate analog cabling you could buy an inexpensive modern receiver with all the bells and whistles while you wait for the 800 to show up used. The very best HDMI cabling will run you $10-$50 depending on the length. I'm having a blast with my new HT receiver and Blueray.

...receivers suck. Especially in the area of amplification. For most people who have a high-quality pre/pro, going to a receiver would be an enormous step down.
Regardless of how good any older pre/pro is it simply can't process the modern media. My suggestion was simply an interim solution because of the difficulty in finding a player at this time. The original poster could still use his amplifier. But thanks for stating the obvious.
Your post was sooooo friendly and helpful.
I got the same feeling from yours. I apologize. This medium has it's shortcomings for me.
I accept, and offer same. It's all too easy to mistake intentions in this kind of environment, and quickly escalate to flames.
