Looked at the Samsung 950 and Sony XBR-8 today, nice. Anyone here using such a TV?

Watch out for the limited angle viewing of the LED's.
We'll have to agree to disagree about global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along
I think the limited angle thing is way overstated,; with most LCDs and the ones in question I find the picture is fine at reasonable angles and still quite watchable at extreme ones. Indeed I find exteme angles themselves more of a problem then any picture degradation caused by them.

I recently purchased a panasonic 46" plasma. The 85u model. I auditioned many sets and I really did not like the lcd's for movie viewing. The model I tried was the samsung 750 model. I've heard tell the 950 is the best lcd yet. Be sure to audition with a movie and see if the black levels look right.
I don't have either one but Home Theater Magazine reviewed the Samsung in the December 2008 issue and the Sony in the January 2009 issue then compared both with two plasmas (Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ800U and Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-111FD) in the February 2009 issue. Four out of five judges ranked the Pioneer first overall but both LCDs are at the top of their game and you probably won't currently find anything much better in an LCD display.
MD---The Pioneers are nice but their smallest TV is 50" and I'm going to go 46" at the largest.
I still prefer plasma to LCD. Check out Panasonics plasmas in your size range. Make sure they are properly calibrated before you compare, since most places just display them out of the box.
I agree with Hornlover, I also prefer plasma and feel their advantages outweigh the LCDs advantages. I also like the Panasonic plasmas, they may not be as good as the Kuros but they're very good and half the price. But if you prefer LCD displays the two you are interested in are as good as they currently get.
