Looking for a cheap TV and see that Best Buy has a house brand called Dynex that for $399 (In Canada) offers a lot for a little. The comparable Sony (I own a big 40 inch Sony Bravia) costs hundreds more for a picture that in store wasn' really any better. Build quality looks about the same as well and the Dynex has more features.
Anyone know who makes the Dynex models - some say LG others say AOC???
Customer satisfaction seems to be good on Dynex as well.
Any experience on them?

Well, I just visited Best Buy in Victoria,Tx. and bought an Insignia 720p TV/Monitor for my Linux PC $199.00 on sale. I saw the Dynex and was unimpressed, I have a 32" Samsung 720p 75 Hz it's 4 years young. I prefer Samsung, but this Insignia is really good.

Here in Canada the best Buy guy said he would sell the Insignia at the same price as the Dynex. Insignia apparently is re-badged LG - in Asia LG is considered to be the best LCD maker with Samsung there as well.
He did say the Dynex looks worse only because it has a lower grade tuner so when the tv signals are split they don't look as good. Still the Insignia I thought was a LOT better than the Dynex and the Insgnia to me looked as good as the bigger names. Frankly, if you're not directly comparing them you have to think "is it good enough."
I may hold off for a bit - in no rush - just doing some early research. Who knows they may have a sale for one by boxing day.
Consumer reports keeps saying that the small Insignias are really good sets...they gave the current 26 incher a best buy rating again this month.
I have an earlier Insignia 26 incher and I think the picture quality is really good.
