Maybe some one can answer this question. Can an after market fuse be easily installed in a panasonic plasma. I was thinking a Hifi tuning fuse would improve the picture quality. Has any one opened the back of their set to check out the main power supply board. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a Panny TH-50PHD and had a HDMI board go out about 3 years ago. I took the back panel off to check things out. I don't recall any fuses. I did go through all the major molex-like plugs and ribbon cables and treated them with Caig Deoxit and Walker Audio SST contact enhancer. I also went back through the Dish HD DVR Satelite and coax cable feed connections all the way back to the sat. dishes. It made a nice improvement to the p.q.
Next on my list is to experiment with upgraded power cords. I already have a Monster balanced power conditioner that all the HT gear plugs into. Another worthwhile investment.
If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend having your TV professionally calibrated. That will most likely provide the biggest visual improvement.

The reason my moniker is Napper, I'm a bit lazy at times. I just picked up the set last week. I saw the picture quality in the store and it was extremely good but the blacks were not quite as good as the pioneer elite that was set up beside the pany. I thought a little help in the power supply delivery might help the black level performance a bit. I also installed a ps audio soloist, and have purchased a furutech power cord as well. Once the pany is mounted up on the wall it is not going to come down for a long time. So a fuse change if possible would have to be done pronto.
Do you have contour emphasis turned on? My set looks fuzzy when it is turned off. The adjustment can be found on the second page of the pro settings.
Is there a fuse to replace? Is the set out of warranty? Do you feel comfortable taking it apart? Are you unhappy with the current performance?
