I installed this little device yesterday using an HDMI connection. Setup was simple and access to Netflix was a breeze. I've watched "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and the first episode of 24. I only have a 3meg DSL connection but it worked flawlessly. Picture quality is good but, based on my limited experience, not as good as DirecTv HD or DVD. Is quality a limitation of Netflix or the device? I'm happy with it but wonder if better streaming quality is available. Any thoughts?

Can't hook it up till I get an HDMI switcher but can't wait. Feel free to post anything about this unit.
I like it even though the picture is clearly inferior to DVD and DirecTv HD.
I'm only using Netflix right now because it is free with my membership. I would like to hear opinions from folks who use the Roku with Netflix. This may be a case of it is what it is and that's ok. If it can be better I would like to understand what I need to do.

If you're so inclined, you can try running the Roku into a home theater processor that is capable of video processing/up-scaling. Some processors do a pretty amazing job of upscaling to HD, even with standard definition broadcasts.
That's a thought. I would need to upgrade my 6 year old HT receiver. I don't switch video through it because it doesn't have HDMI.

As you may have discovered, not everything from Netflix is in HD. Many of the things I've streamed have 4 dots for picture quality and most are accceptable, but if you get 4 dots followed by HD, the picture quality is improved. If you got a $10 credit from Amazon with your XDS like I did, streaming something from them in HD has very good picture quality. My conclusion is that the XDS is not the limiting factor.
Thanks. Can you suggest some titles?

Not knowing your taste in movies, it's difficult to recommend something. The two movies I watched from Amazon were "Prince of Persia" and the newest "Robin Hood". Neither of these movies were all that great, but visually they were quite good. I'm glad they were free.
