I was at a demonstration of 3D at a local retailer (using the glasses) and it sure looked like there was less detail in the Avatar scene versus the same scene in 2D Blu-ray at my home. Yes, the 3D looked excellent. But, it seemed to me like a trade-off.
Is there something to this or was I hallucinating again?
Follow Ups:
The 3D may not have been full resolution 3D (1920 x 1080 for each eye). If it was side by side or top and bottom 3D you would have seen 960 x 1080 or 1920 x 540 respectively at each eye.
Pretty sure there's something to it, but the exact differences depend on what technology is used to achieve the 3D. With the glasses, less light from the TV is making it to your eyes as opposed to the 2D version so it may have seemed overall darker (which may seem less detailed).
Thanks. Less light could have been a contributory factor. Seemed like there was a technological reason as well.
