I don't have them in the same system. I currently have the BDP-93 in the bedroom system and the PS3 in the basement system. I had the BDP-93 hooked up in the main system for a few weeks (along with a modded BDP-83 - for audio). I'd have to think the BDP-93 would be noticeably better upscaling DVDs. Since I have the generation of PS3 that has the chip which won't let it bitstream to the receiver, I moved my old bedroom player, a Samsung 2500 to the basement system. I also had the Samsung in the main system for a few months before the BDP-83 came out. The Samsung is an excellent DVD upscaler. I thought the BDP-83 was a bit bitter and the BDP-93 was still a bit better than that. I'm not sure video wise for Blu-Rays whether you would notice tons of difference. I can tell you the basement system sounds better with the Samsung 2500 sending the hi-rez audio to the receiver for decoding on Blu-Rays vs. the PS3. My PS3 doesn't see much use of late. I probably will put music on its hard drive at some point and plug it into the Emotiva DAC I got for the secondary basement system

Thanks HEW,
I probably should contact Oppo and/or DVDO to assure that bitstream can be sent to the Cinema 11a through that connection. I use a Sony XA5400ES for CDs and SACDs, and the Cary display shows its receiving DSD when available, but that doesn't go through the DVDO Edge. OTOH, the Cary display shows it's receiving Dolby Digital from the DirecTV HD-DVR, and that does go through the Edge.
I think Oppo and DVDO communicate about such matters. If all is well, I'm a buyer.

'Most' people who use a DVDO Edge probably won't need it when using an Oppo BDP-83 or better (i.e. all except the 80) as their source. That's what I've seen, some people have had their DVDO for quite a while and things changed...
My observation is the Oppo performs much better in all ways A/V where their function overlaps, except for 1080p/24 BD where they're very close. The Oppo even streams way better than the PS3 (when the Oppo is equipped with some external storage), which really surprised me. If you have a super-fast net connection then this might not be so observable (?). I have never heard good quality 44.1kHz-based audio coming from the PS3 by HDMI (CD, USB stick, or ext. drive), though 48kHz-based is decent.
Usually, more than a single source goes into the Edge. In my application, both the PS3 (soon to be Oppo 93) and DirecTV HD-DVR go via HDMI to the Edge. Video is stripped off and goes via HDMI directly to a projector; audio goes via HDMI to an audio-only processor. (Oppo sent me an email assuring that bitstream from the Oppo 93 can be passed by the Edge and sent to downstream components.)
I like to watch old movies on DirecTV, and they appear as if remastered after passing through the Edge to the projector compared what I see on our 46XBR8 without an Edge. Of course, if the picture source is high quality, the picture quality on both the projector and XBR are similarly spectacular.

Oh yeah, sorry about that, I kind of overlooked the SD video upscaling you require when it wouldn't be coming from a disc (like in your future -93). The only TV I watch is OTA 1080i and is of high quality to start with. I 'accidentally' watched some SD TV a couple times and it looks absolutely horrendous on my Pio Elite TV, its built-in upscaling is pretty lousy compared to what I'm used to from the Oppos, or even what I've seen on other HD TVs.
