Welcome to the Asylum, I also have a HTPC, Samsung 32" HDTV and 5.1 surround system. Mine is near field, I use a 550 W Yamaha HT receiver, it does the latest HD-dts, and Dolby HD. If you wait till fall the prices will be better. Yamaha has THiB and the fronts are floor standers. Again welcome and Cheers!

Thanks for the reply!
So I should wait until fall huh, roughly how deep into fall should I wait? Passed late August/early September I assume?
Are there many HTiBs that come with tallboys (learned some naming through research!)? Entry level HTiBs.
If I HAD to choose between those two sets, which should I go for? I think the Samsung.
Thanks,
Transcend
I'd get the Sony, several years ago I bought one and it is still my second unit, it plays SACD's and I own two Sony DVP-NS90V players. Mid-Fi is all I can afford, semi-retired. Alan
Interesting, why the Sonys? Even without the optical output?
Thanks,
Transcend
Screw it! I delved deeper into the research and I was like "these two suck even for temps".
Here's my new bid.
