Video Asylum

I was an early adopter.

I bought my first plasma many moons ago: a professional grade Panasonic 42" that I mounted on the wall with the cables hidden behind the drywall.

So cool everyone came to my house to watch.

Can't tell you what I paid for it -- but you could buy a very nice Honda and have cash left over to drive it to Hollywood and see a movie.

After more than a decade it still worked fine -- no burn-out, no lost pixels....

... no excuse to upgrade.

I'll tell you what -- I boxed it up and left it on the side of the road.

... like abandoning the family pet before moving day.

Now it's repalcement, a 50" Panasonic plasma, has been shamed by the new 55" Samsung LED, which is so much better I can't stand to watch even the weather channel on the Plasma.

And the Samsung is so thin ! with no annoying bezel.

And the picture -- I have the same reaction to the new LED picture that I had seeing plasma for the first time after a lifetime of CRT.

What happened to all those CRTs?

And now, where are all those gigantic first, second, third, etc. generation video formats going now that you can get halucinagenicly good, wafer-thin monitors for the price of a starbucks?
