In Reply to: RE: WTF, I thought you hate Sony products....? posted by JohanV on January 03, 2012 at 06:40:27
So basically you want people here to criticize Sony products and then you would forward them to your cousin?
How low can you get?

No, you are criticizing the Sony str-da5400es AV receiver and I have forwarded your comments it to my cousin because he has a subscription on What Hifi magazine and he thinks that they have a good knowledge about AV equipment. Of course they write positive thinks about this receiver (Against nothing and 5 stars!). So your comments on the Sony str-da5400es are a second opinion my cousin has to know about.

I hope your cousin is reading this thread.
He doesn't need dumb pucks like you breathing down his neck over what he should or shouldn't buy with his own money. My post was directed to disbeliever, specifically to "wind him up".
Fact is, the str-da5400es is really a nice receiver with a great auto-calibration feature.
The sonic performance of the analog circuits and power amp section were greatly improved over it's predecessors, str-da5300es and str-da5200es. I know intimately because I lived with each one of these for a year.Inmates who want to know more about the str-da5400es are welcomed to post their questions here.

I think you have to apologize to Disbeliever for making sick jokes on his Sony gear specifically to "wind him up".

I think you need to apologize to your cousin for continuing to send him negative comments (even made up ones) even though he had already purchased the Sony gears.
Have some class.
I need someone to pick me up from the floor.
I'm still laughing that someone like you would buy into that corny story of my domestic helper's toddler son having to stand on top of the Sony receiver so that he can pee properly, and actually sending the story to your cousin to prove your point that Sony is no good.
You are underestimating the creativity of a woman. There where others who also believed your Sony ES story. You have given proof with a picture and you are making jokes about the Sony str-da5400es. I am not a big fan of AV receivers and my cousin has only the str-da2400es which is an entry model but he wants to upgrade to the str-da5700es model which has HATS implemented. My cousin has the Sony scd-xa5400es sacd player connected with HDMI to his Sony str-da2400es AV receiver and he also talks about HATS just as Disbeliever. My cousin and Disbeliever are two of a kind and share the same passion about Sony ES. When I bought the Sony scd-xa9000es SACD player I did not know what ES stands for and later my cousin told me it is "Extremely High Standard" or "Extreme Standard Series". What is in a name? You tell me. At Accuphase they do not need this kind of marketing tricks.

It's his own money and your cousin should buy only what he likes.
But you started making silly jokes about a Sony ES product that you bought and may still have. I do not make silly jokes about products that I own. Discussion closed.

I have sent my cousin your full story of the str-da5400es with the rectification.
I thought your postings would hold some truth but that is not the case here so you are misleading people with dishonesty. Sorry for you but you make me sick. For your information. A Dutch retailer told me and my cousin some time ago that AV receivers less than €3000 sound rubbish. Buy good stereo equipment was their advice to my cousin who was looking for new gear. This Dutch retailer has ended his AV surround activities because there was little interest in AV surround equipment they told me.
Recently I was at a high-end show in Utrecht and there was no AV surround equipment and it was all focused on stereo equipment and I was really impressed by the sound of tube amplifiers and vinyl.
In Europe we have a depression and people are going back to the things that will survive the test of time. I am not sure that AV surround equipment makers will make money in this difficult economical situation. Even Sony is losing money with their AV surround business and the Euro/Yen exchange rate is not helping the Japanese exporters. Accuphase for example will increase their prices this year in the Netherlands with at least 10% and they are already very expensive. Others are not able to increase prices due to heavy competition and will lose money.
Sony ES is alive...but Sony is not making money!!!.

like ying and yang, like shit and piss.
your cousin would do well not to correspond with you anymore on anything regarding audio.
Most of the time I completely disagree about audio and computers with my cousin. Last time my cousin bought a HP laptop computer costing more than €3000 just for email, internet, Skype, Office applications and some photo editing. Over the last 5 years he spent more than €5400 on just two laptop computers. He said to me he needed top of the line. Same goes for his smartphone.Of course everyone makes his own decisions how to spend his money. Having said this, I think this is also the economical problem in Europe that they have spent to much money and not saving money.
