My beloved 27" Panasonic TV died in front of my eyes yesterday. Now the hunt is on and HDTV is about the only option for a new set.
I've read up a bit but can't tell from online descriptions if a given LED HDTV has a backlight or not. That information doesn't seem to be included in typical specs.
If I get an LED TV, it seems one that has backlighting is the way to go.
Any help is appreciated, as are comments.

It should clear up the backlight question:
I appreciate the information.
Thanks.
So the "LED TV" nonsense goes full circle...now somebody is asking if an LED TV has a backlight...
The backlight is the ONLY thing that gives an "LED TV" its name. Thus, yes, it does have a backlight. It is otherwise still just an LCD TV for those who are not marketers.
