The picture is magnificent. At first I played blu rays, looked great, but they always do. Then I watched a DVD movie the other night. The thing freakin looked like a blu ray!!! No jagged diagonals, colors nicely hued etc.
I am very disappointed in the sound, but it's not the player's fault. It ends up I had a double failure a few months ago, my receiver failed along with my old Blu Ray player. So I am required to play the sound of my movies through my TV.
I am new to the netflicks etc. on line. Really nice, I get lots of stuff.
It also loads up movies quicker. Overall, I like my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I was thinking of picking up a new player and heard the 790 was good, and received a favorable review actually saying the PQ was some better than Oppo. However, customer reviews for the 790 on Amazon were not so good, main complaint was the Wyfi not working well in one fashion or another. This was an important issue as it seemed a firmware update was in order for the 790 to work properly, so buyers were in a hard spot. Analog sound like yourself is not an issue so I was hoping for something cheaper than Oppo. Oppo on the other hand held a 4.8 rating based on 249 customer reviews. I still haven't bought a new one yet, still milking the Samsung BDP-1200, it's not in a HT set up though.

It's my understanding there were three shortcomings of Sony players, limited-awkward online ability and slow loading. This player addresses all three.
