If you want to connect more than one thing to the box, though, you need a router.

  You do. However, although I have never seen a Uverse device, from the discussion here, their box seems to include a router in it.

      There are quite a few media streamers available. Apple TV is a good one, another one I would take a look at is the Roku 2 XS.
