In the thread below, there were rumors of Panasonics exit from the plasma TV market. Well, its here. Get your while you can.
Follow Ups:
It was first announced in October, 2011 in Japan.
The larger fact is that Panasonic Corp. (PCRFY) has lost money for the last 2 years. FY 2013 ends in March of next year; we'll see what those numbers are.
I'd suspect that minimal margin product lines are being conceded to the S Koreans & China, while they concentrate on growing technologies like selling 9M Li-ion batteries to Tesla.
I'll probably be getting one in the next couple of months.
JackPS. I'm really only interested in the ZT series-either the 60" or 65".

We are going with the 60 inch VT later this month. From what I have read the picture is nearly as good but ~$500.00 less than the top of the line ZT.
A 65 inch ZT would be sweet hope you can swing one Jack.
The reviewers have said that the ZT has a bettr picture in rooms with more light. That will be the situation for some of my viewing. The problem with the 65", is that it may be a tad overbearing in my room. Viewing distance is about 8 feet.

I've seen an OLED.
Panasonic and Sony have teamed up to build a new factory to build OLED's.
This cancelling the Plasmas makes perfect sense.

It will be some time before OLED prices get down to plasma levels. I'm going out this weekend and snag a 60" plasma, even though my 7 year old 50" still looks great.
I will be getting another Panasonic plasma while I wait for the OLED manufacturers to iron out a few early problems and for the prices to come down considerably.
