I suppose it depends on how well the set up converts non-Ultra signals.

  I'm hoping my Panasonic Viera(s) last until Ultra sets are more widely available and affordable. I don't want to go to LED/LCD displays until then. Plasma is still the best I've ever seen or owned.

  You may want to wait a bit. Outside of the resolution, the format hasn't been standardized yet. Especially the color space. See link.
