Initially Sony/Panasonic were working on a cartridge changer for 4k. Seems a 4k movie needs 300 gigs and a blu ray disc has only capacity for 50. Huge compression?

Time to switch to solid state devices... seriously.

a plug in memory would be kind of expensive right now but since the prices will be coming down in the near future this might be a good time to start it up. I would think that A Blu ray 4k disc just costs only couple bucks to make.
That means its manufacturing cost is probably in the $1 range.
One 4K movie will fit on a 64GB stick, so it is economical already. I would gladly pay an extra buck for not having to deal with discs and mechanisms.

I suspect that they will eventually print movies onto credit card size holders, but the USB stick will be bypassed. Still, the simplicity of printing on an optical disc means they create them for pennies and the drives don't cost that much either. I think the portable market will drive this decision, probably, Apple Computer.
Just as the SSD's push the traditional hard drives in computers, this will happen to film media. All those problems with disc scratches will go away. I can't tell you how many Netflix discs we had to send back because they were all scratched and unplayable.
The Ultra-Blu-Ray will have even finer detail, hence will likely be even more susceptible to damage.

Sounds like someone's paying for a 5-finger discount.
128GB USB flash drives can be found on sale for $40 and that's just recently.

I have bought a couple of 64GB genuine brandname (SandDisk) flashdrives at $16 from sellers who have thousands of transactions and have great feedback. I will not buy from anyone with less than 98.5%. They wouldn't have feedback like that and would be quickly removed if the flashdrives didn't work, were fakes or did not have the correct memory storage as advertised.
You have all the right to follow your instincts, just don't paint everyone with a wide brush. I see nothing wrong with the seller I mentioned. He has a quarter million positive feedbacks, and has rating higher than your magic number of 98.5%.

I don't know how you misunderstood my post but I was actually agreeing with you. Maybe I should have posted it up one level. Nothing magic about 98.5, just a percentage I chose after some consideration and that works for me.
Hard day.

Please check the seller's neg feedback. Same story from different buyers. "Ad lies!!!! Reformatted to 32g but will show 117g SCAM!!"
Sorry to be the messenger...
I will not speak for every product on ebay, but about 18 months ago I bought some 64GB sticks, for $15 ea and they were just fine.
No problem with being the messenger, but the point remains, mechanical drives are outdated. By the time they introduce them, the cost of solid state will be lower again.
